The Night

The Night is Dominique’s first composition for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, bearing the signature of fragrances from the Middle East. In this part of the world, “the night” represents far more than a moment of coolness in the midst of the desert: it is the moment of love, the instant when the stars of the Milky Way scatter across the night sky. The Night is a world of its own, filled with natural scents. Unlike typical oud fragrances on the market, which at best contain traces of this precious raw material (if any at all), The Night is based on an unprecedented proportion of Indian agarwood, which Dominique has generously combined with Turkish rose and amber.

The Perfumer:
Dominique Ropion learned his craft at the legendary Roure Bertrand Dupont laboratory before beginning his work with Jean-Louis Sieuzac, one of the world’s foremost perfumery technicians. Today, he is a star perfumer at IFF. What sets Ropion’s work apart is his blend of precision and freedom, as well as his constant search for new, harmonious accords in which he combines ingredients that are complete opposites. An adventurer who relies on his instincts. However, Dominique Ropion is also very meticulous during the final phase of formulating each of his fragrances.
