Noir Epices

Some fragrances revel in their ambivalence. Noir Epices is an oriental fragrance that forgoes vanilla in favor of spicy notes that evoke adventurous, exotic journeys. Michel Roudnitska’s fragrance exudes lingering notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper, crowned by geranium and underscored by precious woods such as sandalwood and patchouli. A woody oriental fragrance—almost a chypre—whose sensuality is elegant yet never lustful.

The Perfumer:
Born in 1948, Michel Roudnitska spent his childhood in his parents’ laboratory. The art of perfumery was practically instilled in him from birth; it has become second nature to him, as he himself likes to say—much like a mother tongue. His father, Edmond Roudnitska, initiated him into the art of composition for about ten years, and he expanded his artistic expression by becoming a photographer and director. Since 1997, he has headed the creative workshop Art & Parfum, where he composes fragrances based on strict aesthetic principles. Michel Roudnitska is one of the few perfumers who, like his father before him, view their craft as art in the broadest sense.
