During a visit to the Château de La Malmaison, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato found inspiration for his Eau Suave. There he learned that Empress Josephine, an avid amateur botanist, had cultivated a remarkable collection of roses in her greenhouses, including three varieties bred especially for her: the Rose Joséphine, the Rose Pourpre, and the Rose de Vénus. EAU SUAVE pays tribute to this now-lost collection and to what is arguably the most famous flower in perfumery—a symbol of femininity that is also highly prized by men in the Middle East. For this modern yet timeless fragrance, particularly expressive rose varieties were selected that reveal unusual facets of the flower. Fruity roses bring surprising accents of peach, raspberry, and apricot. The sensual notes of spicy roses unfold facets of coriander, saffron, and pepper. Finally, tea rose notes lend the fragrance a light touch. These velvety petals rest on a chypre base: oakmoss and patchouli for their woody depth, bourbon vanilla for its exotic note, and lush white musk for its delicacy.
