The fragrance is the result of a quest to capture the overwhelming and irresistible intensity of a woman. The name "Narcotic Venus" alludes to an intoxicating effect bordering on addiction and pays homage to Venus—the goddess of love, ultimate femininity, and sensuality. With this composition, "The Nose" sought to capture the moment of irresistible attraction: a woman, a fleeting glance, and the feeling of being unable to tear oneself away. Historically, the flower has been celebrated as a symbol of womanhood. To The Nose, a woman is a wild flower that blossoms through her charm and seduces by revealing her intoxicating sexuality. Narcotic V. is an intensely floral fragrance reminiscent of the provocative scent of tuberose. The composition was inspired by one of many wildly bewildering encounters: during a trip to Brazil, The Nose first encountered the exotic Monguba flower, the scent of which he recreated for this blend. Another encounter occurred during a hospital visit; the space—typically sterile and odorless—was suddenly filled with the lush fragrance of a bouquet brought by a visitor. The intoxicating sweetness of the blossoms struck The Nose with immediate impact.
