Pierre Bourdon had originally been working on a very sophisticated angelica fragrance, but his experiments led him to discover a new, botanical form of animality. This fragrance possesses all the defining characteristics of a classic men’s scent. In a sense, it enhances the scent of the skin, as patchouli, frankincense, tree moss, and cedarwood blend exquisitely with the skin’s natural scent. Moreover, this lovely base serves as the cornerstone for an abundance of angelica, galbanum, and allspice. Bois d’Orage (French for “Thunderwood”) is a dramatic, almost Wagnerian composition that expresses the understated sophistication of a man of effortless elegance.

The Perfumer:
After studying political science, Pierre Bourdon changed course and began training at the Roure Bertrand Dupont Perfume School in Grasse. He subsequently became the sole apprentice of the famous perfumer Edmond Roudnitska. He began his professional career in the late 1970s at Roure in Paris. In the 1980s, he ushered in a revolutionary new fragrance trend with his men’s fragrance “Cool Water” for Davidoff. Today, Bourdon is considered one of the most innovative perfumers of his generation.
